XDD TO CO-CHAIR SESSION AT UPCOMING BIOREMEDIATION SYMPOSIUM IN RENO, NV
June 9, 2011
The "Biggest Little In-Situ Remediation Firm in the World" will be heading to the "Biggest Little City in the World" when XDD appears at the
International Symposium on Bioremediation and Sustainable Environmental Technologies in Reno, Nevada from June 27-30, 2011. XDD project manager and laboratory director Brant Smith, Ph.D., will be co-chairing Session A8, which is entitled, "Combining Chemical Treatments with Biological Polishing Approaches." The session's platform talks are scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 30, while its associated posters will be displayed on Wednesday, June 29.
The session, which will be co-chaired by Michelle Crimi, Ph.D., of Clarkson University, will address the application of in-situ chemical oxidation/reduction (ISCO/ISCR) remedies in conjunction with in-situ bioremediation (ISB) approaches. Topics to be covered include:
- ISCO/ISCR followed by ISB in the same area;
- ISCO/ISCR followed by monitored natural attenuation (MNA), with an eye towards certain biological parameters and conditions;
- Combined remedies where ISB and ISCO/ISCR have been applied to the same site but in different/adjoining areas (e.g., ISCO/ISCR used in the source area and ISB in the plume);
- Injecting a single reagent solution that both initiates an ISCO/ISCR reaction and is intended to stimulate ISB;
- ISB followed by ISCO/ISCR in the same area; and
- Biodegradation of ISCO/ISCR residuals.
Any conference attendees who are interested in meeting with XDD while in Reno to discuss chemical and biological remedial approaches or any other remediation issues should feel free to contact Brant Smith (smith@xdd-llc.com) directly via e-mail or at (800) 486-3575.
